Statement issued by the bloc of the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties
Khaberni - The head of the bloc of the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties, MP Captain Zuhair Mohammed Al-Khashman stated that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s directive to increase the allocations of the University Student Support Fund represents a clear political and economic stance. It reaffirms that higher education is not a marginal issue nor a postponable item, but a national priority that affects social stability and the future of Jordan’s economy.
He explained that the increase in the fund’s allocation by approximately five million dinars, bringing the total to forty million dinars for this year, is a necessary step in the face of increasing living pressures on Jordanian families. However, it also places a direct responsibility on both the government and the private sector to build on this approach and not be content with it alone.
He indicated that the bloc, based on this royal decision, asserts that support for education should not be confined to the general budget, calling on banks, major companies, and profitable economic institutions to engage mandatorily and responsibly in supporting the University Student Fund, considering it a national investment in human capital, not merely a promotional or temporary activity.
He noted that the private sector's contribution should be organized within clear and transparent frameworks to ensure the sustainability of financing and the fairness of distribution, and to link the support to educational outputs that serve the labor market and national economy, in line with royal directives and the spirit of national responsibility.
