Khaberni - The head of the Jordanian parliamentary delegation participating in the general conference of the International Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, Deputy Jihad Abbouei, stated that the Palestinian issue is the core of conflicts in the Middle East, and that ending it through a fair and permanent solution is key to achieving security and stability in the region.
Abbouei, who is a deputy for the Jordanian National Union Party, explained that a fair solution involves establishing an independent Palestinian state on its national territory, with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
Abbouei and accompanying parliamentary delegation members emphasized the importance of the Hashemite custodianship in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and its role in preserving the existing historical and legal status.
This was stated during the speech of the Jordanian delegation at the conference held in Tbilisi, where it was affirmed that reaching a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue is fundamental to achieving peace, stability, and development in the region.
He pointed out the necessity of preserving the historical and legal identity of the holy lands, especially Jerusalem, urging parliaments and the international community to reject any measures that affect the existing status or undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Abbouei condemned the ongoing violations that affect the freedom of worship and the historical status in Jerusalem, pointing to the incidents involving the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He confirmed Jordan's commitment, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, to support efforts aimed at promoting a culture of peace and dialogue, and confronting hate speech and extremism, leading to a future dominated by stability and development.
He clarified that the participation of the Jordanian delegation aims to enhance dialogue and cooperation among parliaments and to consolidate values of tolerance and understanding among peoples, which contributes to protecting the shared religious and cultural heritage.
He added that parliaments represent the voice of the people, and it is their responsibility to translate the aspirations of the citizens into policies that enhance development, and achieve justice, rule of law, and human values.
It is noted that the Jordanian parliamentary delegation includes MPs: Jihad Abbouei, Safi Haddad, Hail Ayash, and Iyad Jabreen, as part of the activities of the assembly, which includes 25 member countries.
