Khaberni - The Ministry of Agriculture has issued a number of guidelines and warnings for farmers, urging them to take the necessary precautions to deal with the potential occurrence of frost, heavy rain, and strong winds in the upcoming period.
The Ministry advises farmers on the necessity of securely closing greenhouse doors after noon to retain as much heat as possible, maintaining it within the greenhouse, and to irrigate the crops to reduce frost damage, and to perform necessary maintenance on doors and plastic coverings to avoid them being blown away.
The Ministry stresses to sheep breeders the importance of covering sheds, doors, and windows with plastic to maintain appropriate heat inside the sheds, to keep newborns in tightly sealed places to protect them from the cold and strong air currents, to avoid grazing near flood streams or valleys, and to perform necessary maintenance on the stables and clearing the external spaces to ensure good drainage of rainwater to prevent infections of mastitis and hoof diseases.
The Ministry of Agriculture also advises bringing cattle into closed barns and sheltered stalls during times of severe cold and snow, as well as protecting newborns and calves from strong air currents, and placing them in dry, clean areas.
The Ministry calls on poultry farmers to provide heating inside the barracks to maintain an appropriate temperature with good ventilation, and to perform necessary maintenance to prevent water from entering the poultry barracks and exposing them to strong air currents.
The Ministry of Agriculture calls on beekeepers to tightly close hive covers and not to inspect them in rainy, windy, and frosty conditions, to heat the hives by moving them closer together, placing straw bales around them, narrowing the entrance of the hive, providing sugary food to the bees, combining weaker colonies, and keeping beehives away from flood streams and valleys.
