Son of Irans deposed Shah urges security forces to stand with the people

Khaberni - The son of the deposed Shah of Iran, residing in the United States, urged Iranian security forces and government employees on Sunday to join the escalating protest movement in the Islamic Republic.

Reza Pahlavi said on social media platforms, "In front of government institution employees, as well as members of the armed and security forces, there are two options: either to stand with the people and become allies of the nation, or to choose to collude with the killers of the people."

This came after human rights organizations warned that the Iranian authorities are conducting "widespread killings" to suppress the disturbances.

Pahlavi also called for replacing the flags raised on Iranian embassy buildings with the flag that was adopted before the Islamic Revolution.

He said, "The time has come to adorn them with the national Iranian flag, instead of the shameful flag of the Islamic Republic."

A protester in London removed the flag raised on the balcony of the Iranian embassy over the weekend and raised a banner used during the royal era ended by the revolution of 1979.

The Iranian foreign ministry summoned the British ambassador in Tehran on Sunday following the incident, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
