Syria accuses Hezbollah of orchestrating a plan to launch missiles outside its borders

Khaberni - The Syrian authorities announced on Sunday the thwarting of a plot aimed at launching "outside the borders" missiles, accusing a cell linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah of being behind it.

The official news agency (SANA) quoted a source in the Ministry of Interior as saying, "A sabotage plot was thwarted, with a cell linked" to the party supported by Iran.

He explained that the cell "intended to launch missiles outside the borders to destabilize", without mentioning more details about the location of the operation carried out by the general intelligence and internal security.

Last week, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of five individuals who were said to have planned to target a religious figure in Damascus, and the investigations revealed their connection to the party.

In February, Damascus announced the dismantling of a cell responsible for attacks that targeted the Mezzeh area in Damascus, indicating that the weapons used came from Hezbollah, which also denied any involvement in that.
