Discovering an Israeli officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel found dead and initiating a military investigation

Khaberni - The Israeli army reported in a statement on Saturday evening that it found one of its officers "lifeless" at his home in the central part of the country.

The army stated in its announcement that the military police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of death.

The Hebrew newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that the officer found dead on Saturday at his home in central Israel held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

It pointed out that the police opened an investigation into the incident following his death, clarifying that he was performing his military duties.

In this context, a spokesman for the Israeli army stated that once the investigation is completed, its results will be forwarded to the military prosecutor's office for review, confirming that his family has been informed of his death.

In the year 2025, the Hebrew media revealed that 22 Israeli soldiers had committed suicide since the beginning of the year, compared with 9 soldiers in the first half of 2024.

The army radio said that the data indicates a significant increase in the number of suicides in the army this year compared with previous years.
