Khaberni - Napoli missed out on two valuable points after being held to a frustrating draw at their home stadium and in front of their fans against Hellas Verona with a score of 2-2 in round 19 of the Italian football league on Wednesday evening.
Verona took the defending champions by surprise in front of their home crowd, scoring two first-half goals, the first in the 16th minute when Cheikh Niasse sent a cross from the right side that Martin Friesi met with his heel into the net.
The visitors doubled their lead with a second goal scored by Gjeft Urban in the 27th minute from a penalty kick struck to the right of Napoli goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić.
Napoli attacked with all lines in the second half and managed to reduce the deficit with a goal scored by Scott McTominay with a header after a corner kick delivered by Noah Lang in the 54th minute.
Rasmus Hojlund scored a second goal in the 72nd minute, but the video assistant referee intervened for a handball against the Danish striker, resulting in the goal being disallowed.
Napoli did not despair and achieved an equalizer with a goal by Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the 82nd minute following a cross from the right side by substitute Luca Mariani.
With this draw, Napoli missed out on two points in front of their fans and an opportunity to jump temporarily to the lead, remaining at 38 points in third place, behind on goal difference to Milan in second place, with Inter Milan leading at 39 points.
As for Hellas Verona, struggling to escape relegation, they snatched a valuable point elevating their tally to 13 points in the eighteenth position.
At the same time, Atalanta won away against Bologna with two goals scored by Nikola Krstović in the 37th and 60th minutes.
Atalanta raised their score to 28 points to jump to the seventh position in the standings, overtaking Bologna, who fell to the ninth spot after their points froze at 26.
