Syria suspends air navigation at Aleppo airport as clashes continue

Khaberni - The General Authority for Aviation in Syria announced on Tuesday the suspension of flights to and from Aleppo Airport for 24 hours due to the targeting by the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF" of residential areas in the city of Aleppo, according to the Syrian News Agency "SANA".

The Authority stated in a statement published on its Telegram channel, "In light of the current security developments in some neighborhoods of Aleppo city, and out of concern for the safety of passengers and air crews, and to ensure the security of operational processes, it was decided to suspend flights to and from Aleppo Airport for 24 hours, starting from today."

The Authority added that the scheduled flights during this period will be redirected to Damascus International Airport, pending the completion of the necessary technical and security assessments, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The Authority confirmed that this measure is precautionary and temporary, as updates will be issued following the end of the specified period or if any new developments occur, urging passengers to follow the details of their flights through the relevant airlines.

On Tuesday, 4 people were killed, including 3 civilians, due to clashes between government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria, with both sides exchanging accusations of responsibility for their outbreak, amid stalled negotiations between the parties for months.
