Khaberni - The Ministry of Social Development, under directives from Prime Minister Dr. Ja'far Hassan, has begun taking immediate actions to help families affected by the weather conditions that recently prevailed in the kingdom, including some homes being overrun by water.
The ministry told the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that a meeting was held this morning, Tuesday, at the ministry's building, attended by the Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa, the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Locations Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh, the General Director of Zakat Fund Dr. Abdel Samiraat, the General Director of the National Aid Fund Khetam Shneikat, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry Dr. Barq Ad Damur. During this meeting, mechanisms were discussed to identify affected families and determine the basis for providing assistance.
It explained that the Cabinet decided to exempt these families from the financial aid instructions and the guidelines for assisting families affected in such circumstances, pointing out that aid would be dispensed after performing field inspections and verifying the actual extent of the damage.
It emphasized that the value of the aid would be determined based on reports from committees formed across all the governorates of the kingdom, after assessing the extent of the damage, and that the aid would cover all affected families in various regions, not just one governorate.
It indicated that it had activated its emergency teams in its directorates across all governorates to quickly handle the affected cases, where it provided immediate material assistance to more than 513 families during the past period, as well as provided shelter for 102 families affected by the weather conditions.
The ministry noted that it has compiled a list of families affected by the recent weather depression, and that verification of these names would be conducted through the relevant committees and based on reports from Civil Defense, in addition to field inspections and requesting certain necessary documents, to ensure that aid reaches those who truly deserve it according to the approved criteria.
