Jordan and China Discuss Enhancing Cooperation and Organizing Joint Cultural Weeks

Khaberni - Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Jordan, Gou Wei, discussed ways to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries, including the organization of joint cultural weeks.

They also discussed, during a meeting held at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman, in the presence of the Ministry's Secretary-General Nidal Al-Ahmad, General Director of the National Library Firas Al-Darabieh, and the Chinese Cultural Advisor Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Amman, Gaoxiaowu Qiang, organizing artistic events for the participation of artistic teams, in addition to exchanging experiences and expertise in various cultural fields.

During the meeting, the Minister of Culture and the Chinese Ambassador affirmed the deep historical relations linking the two countries.

They also emphasized the importance of developing joint educational and training programs, and encouraging youth and artistic initiatives that enhance cultural understanding and strengthen the bilateral relations between the Jordanian and Chinese people.

Al-Rawashdeh pointed to the ongoing efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II in defending the Palestinian cause, highlighting the pivotal role His Majesty plays in preserving Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem through the Hashemite custodianship, which represents a historical and political responsibility aimed at protecting the identity of the holy city and preventing any attempts to compromise its religious and historical status.

He noted that these efforts are appreciated and respected by the international community, reflecting a solid Jordanian commitment to just and comprehensive peace.

On his part, the Chinese Ambassador referred to the second summit to be held on the sidelines of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum in mid-June next year, organized by the Chinese government in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

He suggested organizing Jordanian cultural events on the sidelines of the summit, which would contribute to enhancing cultural exchange and fostering closeness between peoples.
