Killing of a Syrian soldier and injury of 4 in an attack by SDF forces in Aleppo

Khaberni - A military source announced the killing of a soldier in the Syrian army and the injury of 4 due to their targeting by a drone of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Aleppo.

Clashes erupted near Sheikh An roundabout in Aleppo following an attack by SDF forces on Syrian army positions, according to Al Jazeera.

In turn, the authorities closed the Aleppo/Gaziantep road at Lermoon roundabout after the SDF targeted elements of the Syrian army on Castello road.

On the contrary, the Syrian Democratic Forces accused factions belonging to the Damascus government of targeting the densely populated area of Deir Hafer.

An SDF statement said, "We hold these factions fully responsible for the consequences of this serious escalation, and we affirm that our forces reserve the right to respond to the attacks in defense of our people and maintain the security and stability of our regions."

Ongoing Escalation

On Monday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that 3 military personnel were injured in an attack by drones in the countryside of Aleppo province (north), carried out by the SDF, and vowed to respond.

The Syrian news agency SANA cited the Ministry of Media and Communication saying, "As part of its continuous escalation on army points in various regions of the republic, SDF targeted a checkpoint of the military police near army deployment points around the town of Deir Hafer east of Aleppo."

It clarified that the targeting resulted in "the injury of 3 soldiers and damage to two vehicles," confirming that the Syrian Arab Army will respond to this aggression in a suitable manner, without providing further details.

Later, the Syrian news channel quoted an unnamed military source saying, "The Syrian Arab Army has begun targeting the sources of the drones launched by SDF around Deir Hafer east of Aleppo after locating their launch points."

On Sunday, the news channel reported meetings in the capital Damascus with the SDF organization attended by its leader Mazlum Abdi to follow up on the implementation of the March 10, 2025 agreement, stating that it "did not yield tangible results."

SDF continues to delay implementing the terms of the agreement, which was signed by Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar, and the leader of the organization, Ferhad Abdi Shahin known as "Mazlum Abdi."

The agreement includes the integration of civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into state governance, opening of crossings, airports, oil and gas fields, and reaffirming national territorial integrity.

The new Syrian administration led by President al-Shar is making intensive efforts to secure the country and extend its full control since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, which lasted 24 years in power.
