Khaberni - On Saturday, January 3, 2026, marks the third anniversary of former Prime Minister Abdelsalam Al-Majali, who passed away in 2023.
Al-Majali, a prominent doctor and politician, served as Prime Minister in two terms, the first between 1993 and 1995, and the second between 1997 and 1998.
He also held many senior positions in the fields of medicine, politics, and education.
Al-Majali was born in the city of Al-Karak in 1925, and was the brother of politician Abdel Hadi Al-Majali, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and a member of the Senate.
Al-Majali began his professional career as a doctor in the Jordanian Arab Army, where he held several leadership medical positions, including general practitioner and specialist in otolaryngology, eventually becoming the Director of Royal Medical Services and an advisor in the armed forces.
Al-Majali also served as the Minister of Health on several occasions between 1969 and 1971, and played a prominent role in advancing the health sector and university education in the kingdom, as he headed the University of Jordan in two periods between 1971 and 1976, then between 1980 and 1989.
Al-Majali left a significant legacy in the medical, educational, and political fields and was known for his dedication to serving his country and community.
