Khaberni - Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted the events of the “Awareness and Capacity Building in Sustainability in Jordanian Universities (SUSTAIN-JO)” program, with distinguished participation from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and a number of partner Jordanian and German universities. The event included participation from Petra University, Yarmouk University, and Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) in Germany.
Participants discussed the role of universities in promoting sustainability concepts, best practices and challenges in higher education, as well as showcasing the project outcomes and their impact on the participating academic institutions.
The program included dialogue sessions, presentations on innovation for sustainability, and an open discussion about the role of national and international partnerships in supporting sustainable development in Jordanian universities.
The event also featured a field tour in the facilities of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, where guests were introduced to a number of research centers and advanced facilities, including the Center for Hearing and Speech, the Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research Center, the Animal House, the Smart Agricultural House, the College of Dentistry, and the Arena Complex.
Dr. Ahmad Mansour, the director of the Sustainability Center at the university, highlighted the importance of this project in building the capacities of Jordanian universities and exchanging expertise with German academic institutions, contributing to the reinforcement of sustainability concepts in higher education and institutional practices.
Ms. Raya Al-Sharif, the director of the Business Incubator at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, affirmed that hosting such international events reflects the university's commitment to supporting innovation and sustainability, connecting scientific research with entrepreneurship, and enhancing collaboration with local and international partners.
This hosting is part of Al-Ahliyya Amman University's vision to enhance its role as a leading academic center in the fields of sustainability, innovation, and international collaboration.
