Khaberni - The prisoner Hassan Issa Al-Qasha'leh was martyred on Thursday evening inside the Beersheba Prison, which belongs to the Israeli occupation army, according to the Palestinian news agency "Wafa", while the Israeli Prison Service reported the formation of an investigation team, "and the cause of his death is still undetermined at this time."
Al-Qasha'leh hails from the city of Rahat in the Negev, southern Palestine, and had spent more than 13 months in the occupation's prisons. He was scheduled to be released after 6 months.
The martyrdom of Al-Qasha'leh comes amidst escalating reports of increasing numbers of martyrs among prisoners due to mistreatment and torture, since the start of the genocidal war launched by the occupation forces on Gaza in October 2023, which lasted for two years.
The Prisoners’ Media Office warned of direct negative effects on the physical health and endurance of the prisoners, with the continued policy of deliberate neglect and non-response to basic needs.
Human rights intervention
The office held Israel fully responsible for the safety of the prisoners, warning of serious consequences of the continued policy of isolation and repression.
It called for urgent human rights and humanitarian intervention to stop the crimes inside Israeli prisons.
According to previous data published by the Palestinian Prisoner's Club (non-governmental), the number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons reached 10,800 by the beginning of last August, including 49 female prisoners and 450 children.
The club clarified that the total number does not include detainees in camps affiliated with the Israeli army, including prisoners from Lebanon and Syria.
Since October 2023, 100 Palestinian prisoners have been martyred in Israeli occupation prisons.
