Khaberni - The 2025 African Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco, continues to break records and has established itself as one of the most exceptional editions in the history of the tournament, after recording an unprecedented public attendance with the conclusion of the group stage matches.
According to the Moroccan '"Parliament Sport" newspaper, official figures showed that the stadium stands were filled with a total of 729,240 spectators during the first-round matches, which is the highest number ever recorded in the history of the tournament at the group stages level. Thus, the Moroccan edition clearly surpassed the Ivory Coast 2023 edition, which had 643,585 spectators, an increase exceeding 85,000 spectators.
This remarkable fan momentum reflects the great passion that accompanied the current edition of "the CAN," both from the Moroccan fans who created exceptional atmospheres in various stadiums, and from fans coming from different parts of the African continent to support their teams. This turnout also confirms Morocco's success in hosting a model tournament at both organizational and audience levels.
Several factors contributed to this historic achievement, notably the quality of organization, availability of modern infrastructure, and international standard stadiums, in addition to distributing the matches across multiple cities, which gave fans broader opportunities to attend and create impressive public scenes.
As the tournament enters its knockout stages, attention turns to the possibility of breaking new record figures, amid continued fan enthusiasm and strong competition between the teams, enhancing the stature of Morocco 2025 as an exceptional edition that will remain embedded in the memory of African football.
With the start of the round of 16 matches, fans are anticipating strong and decisive confrontations, where there is no room for compensation, amidst every team's pursuit to continue their journey towards the quarterfinals, and then taking another step closer to winning the title of the current edition of the African Cup of Nations.
