Khaberni - Media reports confirmed that FC Barcelona has exceeded the previously announced budget for the redevelopment of the Camp Nou, in a new development that sheds light on the financial challenges associated with the massive project.
Barça Universal account on X reported that the management had announced a budget of 960 million euros for the construction works in collaboration with Limak Construction, but current estimates suggest that the final cost could reach between 1.1 and 1.2 billion euros.
It added: "The project, which is one of the largest stadium modernization operations in Europe, aims to transform Camp Nou into a modern, multi-purpose facility that aligns with the highest global standards in terms of capacity, technology, and infrastructure. However, the anticipated rise in costs raises questions about how to finance the financial gap, especially given the economic conditions the club has faced in recent years.
It continued: "Sources close to the matter confirm that the increase is due to multiple factors, including the rise in raw material prices and global construction costs, alongside engineering and technical adjustments introduced to the original design of the project."
It concluded: "Despite this, the FC Barcelona management is adhering to its long-term plan, considering that the investment in the stadium development represents a fundamental pillar for enhancing the club's future revenues, whether through increasing capacity or improving commercial returns associated with the new facilities."
