The government Environmental cameras respect privacy in Jordan

The Ministry of Environment appreciated the attention shown by Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, confirming that what he proposed reflects the national awareness of the importance of partnership, collective, and community responsibility in addressing public issues, especially those related to environmental protection and public safety, affirming that the use of cameras is done with high professionalism within clear legal and regulatory frameworks, and in a way that ensures the respect of citizens' privacy and the preservation of their personal rights, emphasizing that the primary goal of their use is to serve the public interest and protect the environment, and not surveillance or infringement on individual freedoms.

The ministry clarified that the responsibility of installing and managing the cameras on the streets lies within the authority of the Ministry of Local Administration, the Secretariat, and the competent municipalities, where they are used for specific and clear purposes, primarily to enhance public cleanliness, reduce negative environmental behaviors, and support the implementation of related laws.
The ministry also renewed its commitment to continue collaborative work with various official entities and the local community to enhance environmental awareness and establish the concept of shared responsibility, which contributes to achieving a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for all, at the same time expressing its gratitude and appreciation for the constructive comments and interest of Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq in environmental issues
