Meteorology Intensification of Rainfall in the Northern and Western Regions of Jordan

The weather forecaster in the Meteorological Department, Tariq Al-Sharaan, predicts that the rainfall will intensify in the northern regions of the kingdom and the western strip.

Al-Sharaan added on Saturday that the areas of Ajloun, Irbid, Al-Baqoura, and Deir Alla, in addition to the central areas and the western strip of the kingdom, will experience moderate to heavy rainfall over the coming hours, lasting until the morning hours of Sunday, according to Al-Mamlaka.

Regarding the impact of the low pressure, Al-Sharaan explained that the noon and afternoon hours of Sunday will see a decrease in the impact of the depression, leading to the formation of a second low-pressure system of Cypriot origin extending its influence until Tuesday morning, its rains covering the entire kingdom.

The low pressure on Monday will be centered over the island of Cyprus, and the weather will be cold and cloudy, with renewed rainfall in the north and center of the kingdom and parts of the southwestern and eastern regions. The rain is expected to be heavy at times in the north and center of the kingdom, possibly accompanied by thunder. The winds will be westerly, active in speed with strong gusts occasionally reaching (60–70) km per hour, raising dust, particularly in the desert areas, with the intensity of the rainfall gradually weakening during the night hours.

The Meteorological Department warns of the danger of forming floods in valleys and low areas in the north and center of the kingdom, including the Dead Sea area, and of reduced horizontal visibility in the early morning hours due to fog over the mountainous heights and parts of the plains, as well as the occasional reduction of horizontal visibility due to dust in the southern regions, and from slipping on roads experiencing rainfall.
