Khaberni - The Syrian authorities released last Friday dozens of military personnel from the era of the ousted Assad regime, in Latakia province in the northwest of the country, after their non-involvement in war crimes was proven.
The "Syrian News Channel" reported that a group of detainees in the city of Latakia was released after their non-involvement in war crimes was proven, noting that the number of people released reached 70 military personnel.
It was mentioned that this batch is the first among a number of batches to be released in the coming period, without giving further details.
Meanwhile, the Syrian authorities arrested 12 individuals, including officers from the former regime, on the Syrian-Lebanese border on the night of Friday to Saturday.
The Media and Communication Department of the Ministry of Defense - in a statement on its social media pages - said that the border guard units arrested 12 people, including elements and officers linked to the fallen regime at the Syrian-Lebanese border.
The department noted that the soldiers, including an officer with the rank of colonel, were arrested near the city of Tel Kalakh on the Syrian-Lebanese border while they were crossing the border illegally, stating that they would be handed over to the competent authorities to take the necessary actions.
A large number of elements from the former regime fled to Lebanon after the fall of the regime, and a number of them were arrested in recent months while fleeing from Syria to Lebanon, according to sources.
