Cairo Governor Starting the Replacement of TukTuks with Cute Small Cars

Khaberni - Today, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, announced the start of the governorate in implementing the initiative to replace tuk-tuks with small "Cute" cars, as a civilized, safe, and licensed alternative in the northern area as the first phase, which will be generalized in other areas if successful, within the framework of the state's plan to develop the transport system and reduce randomness in the streets.

The Governor of Cairo stated that the random and unlicensed spread of tuk-tuks, the unknown identities of their drivers, and the lack of safety standards prompted the search for alternative and practical solutions. He pointed to the aim of the initiative to provide a civilized and safe alternative with a licensed leader, while preserving the livelihood of the drivers.

The Governor of Cairo said that the first phase of the initiative includes the districts of Hadayek El-Qubba, El-Amiriya, El-Zawya El-Hamra, El-Sharabiya, El-Sahel, Rod El-Farag, and Shubra, where the designated cars will be licensed at the El-Salam Traffic Licensing Complex.

Saber added that applications for replacing the tuk-tuk with the new vehicle will be received at the technological centers in the districts where the experiment will be applied, and the color white has been chosen as a distinctive color for the vehicles that will operate in the northern area.

The "Cute" cars run on gas and gasoline, and their price is about 200,000 EGP, of which 10,000 EGP will be refunded upon receipt of the vehicle's license. They will be available for installment through cooperation with several banks and financing companies.

The car is equipped with 4 wheels and an enclosed cabin for drivers and passengers, and it has safety belts, two fans inside, an overhead net for carrying luggage, and its driver will be able to work with one of the smart transport companies.

The Governor of Cairo emphasized that this initiative aims to provide a legal alternative for the drivers and a safe means for the drivers and passengers, and it targets the elimination of the traditional tuk-tuk and its replacement with modern vehicles that comply with safety and security standards, contributing to the organization of traffic.
