Khaberni - Four people were killed in an airplane crash on a restaurant in Brazil, and the restaurant, located in a densely populated residential area, was still closed at the time of the incident, reducing the number of casualties on the ground and limiting the victims to only passengers.
Firefighters confirmed that the pilot was among the victims, along with three other people aboard the light aircraft, including a couple.
A short video clip documented the incident, showing where the plane fell.
According to details published by numerous media outlets, the horrific accident occurred shortly after 10:30 AM local time, while a Piper Malibu aircraft was landing at Cabaú da Canoa Airport in Rio Grande do Sul state in southern Brazil.
There were no immediate reports of injuries on the ground, even though the stunning footage of the incident showed a man running for his life when he saw the plane falling, and another couple running away from the scene after they narrowly escaped being hit.
Footage from the scene showed flames emanating from the top of the building hit by the airplane, and a black column of smoke rising high into the air.
Journalistic reports reviewed by "Alarabiya.net" stated that residents living in houses next to the restaurant were evacuated to safety.
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul state, Eduardo Leite, said: "I followed, from the very first moments, in cooperation with security forces, the full mobilization for responding to the crash of a small airplane at Cabaú da Canoa, which unfortunately resulted in confirmed fatalities. The civil defense teams have already evacuated the accident area."
The horrific airplane crash occurred less than 24 hours after four people died following the crash of a light airplane in a field near an industrial area close to the city of Puebla in central Mexico.
