Khaberni - TASS agency reported, quoting the Russian Meteorological Center, that the Republic of Sakha has become the coldest region on Earth in the past twenty-four hours.
According to meteorologists, the Yakutia area experienced an unusual cold wave, during which the lowest temperatures on Earth were recorded on December 22 of this year.
The lowest temperature was recorded in the city of Pokrovsk, where it reached minus 51.7 degrees Celsius.
In the town of Sukhana, a temperature of minus 49.4 degrees Celsius was recorded, while in the town of Krist Khalbai it dropped to minus 48.7 degrees Celsius.
Conversely, the highest temperatures in the world were recorded in the town of Telfer in Australia, where they reached 44.1 degrees Celsius, while Sydney Airport recorded 42.6 degrees Celsius, and in the city of Abington in the Republic of South Africa it reached 39.2 degrees Celsius.
