Khaberni - Former Emperor of Japan Akihito celebrated his 92nd birthday today, Tuesday, after his heart condition stabilized, according to officials at the Imperial Palace.
Akihito, father of Emperor Naruhito, was diagnosed in May with insufficient blood flow to the heart muscles, but his condition has stabilized since he began a new treatment in July, according to the Imperial Household Agency.
Akihito, who has held the title of Emperor Emeritus since abdicating the throne in 2019, is scheduled to celebrate his birthday with his family, and will also receive guests, including Prime Minister Sanai Takaishi.
