Video Criminal attempts to eliminate officer and the weapon saves the situation unbelievably

Surveillance cameras in Ohio recorded a dangerous incident inside a Walmart store when a man attempted to shoot a police officer investigating a theft case.

Details show that the police responded to a theft report at the Walmart located on Atlantic Street in Stark County around 1:45 PM.

The officer went to the loss prevention room where the suspect, 21-year-old Shane Newman, was sitting with 23-year-old Katrina Jeffrey, according to "Fox News".

The officer was surprised when Newman pulled out a gun and tried to shoot him in the head, but the firearm malfunctioned and the bullet did not fire. Meanwhile, one of the store’s security employees quickly intervened and jumped on Newman before he could attempt to shoot again.

Additionally, body camera footage worn by the officer captured the tense moments of the incident, and the officer later explained that he refrained from shooting Newman for fear of hitting the Walmart employee who was pinning him to the ground.

Eventually, the officer managed to control the situation and successfully apprehended the suspect.

Authorities charged Newman with multiple offenses including attempted murder, felony assault on a police officer, theft, drug possession, and carrying a weapon illegally. The judicial records revealed that Newman is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction.

The police found Newman in possession of 50 blue pills identified as the drug Molly, while Jeffrey faced a charge of conspiracy to commit theft.

The accused appeared before the Canton Municipal Court, where Newman's bail was set at 1 million dollars, while Jeffrey's bail was set at 500,000 dollars. They are scheduled to return to court on December 23.
