Khaberni - Royal Jordanian Airlines celebrates 62 years since its establishment by the late His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal in 1963, where it set off to be an ambassador for Jordan in the skies and a representative of its values and messages. Today, the company continues its national role thanks to the guidance and support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who consistently emphasizes the importance of enhancing the status of the national carrier, linking Jordan with the world in line with the highest standards of excellence.
The Vice Chairman/CEO of Royal Jordanian, Engineer Samer Al-Majali, affirmed that the Jordanian state has always been and still is the main supporter of the company's journey, as it supports Royal Jordanian and enables it to implement its strategic plans and overcome challenges to enhance its operational efficiency. He added that the government's confidence in Royal Jordanian has enabled it to continue modernizing its fleet, expanding its network, and improving its services to passengers, directly contributing to supporting the national economy, providing jobs, and enhancing tourism.
Al-Majali explained that the year 2025 marked an important milestone in the company's journey, as Royal Jordanian continued its fleet modernization program by introducing 19 new aircraft of A320neo and Embraer E2 models, in addition to updating its Boeing 787-8 fleet and completing work on the first two aircraft within a comprehensive renewal plan, while the company is preparing to receive its first Boeing 787-9 at the beginning of 2026. This step is part of a future vision aimed at increasing the fleet size to about 40 aircraft in the coming years to ensure greater capacity to serve passengers and expand the network.
On the destinations front, Royal Jordanian has enhanced its regional and international presence by adding new destinations and increasing flight frequencies, raising the number of its direct stations to 55 destinations. The added destinations over the past two years include Damascus and Aleppo in Syria, Benghazi and Misrata in Libya, Casablanca in Morocco, Najaf in Iraq, Mumbai in India, and Washington D.C. in the United States. The company is preparing to launch new destinations in 2026, including Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Belgrade in Serbia, alongside Dallas in the United States, as part of a plan to increase the number of stations to 60 global destinations.
Under the guidance and support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Royal Jordanian is continuing the development project of the new cargo building at Queen Alia International Airport, a strategic project for which His Majesty laid the foundation stone this year, considered one of the most crucial national investments to enhance Jordan's logistical capacity and support the air transport sector. The investment in the project is about 40 million dollars, and the building currently provides advanced air freight services for various types of goods, including medical and perishable materials, and high-value goods, through the new medium-range A321 cargo aircraft and the cargo capacities allocated on passenger aircraft.
Royal Jordanian has also enhanced its investments in support companies within an integrative framework that supports its core operations, as it owns 100% of the Jordanian Company for Flight Training and Simulation (JATS) and has increased its stake in the Jordanian Company for Aircraft Catering to 51% to enhance the quality of services and operational excellence, in addition to owning 90% of the Jordan Airports Company responsible for the operation and rehabilitation of Amman City Airport, which supports Jordan’s position as a regional hub for logistic services and air transport.
Al-Majali concluded his remarks by reaffirming Royal Jordanian's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, supporting Jordanian youth, and promoting a culture of voluntary work, expressing gratitude to the members of the board of directors, all company employees, and retirees for their vital role in building the stature of the national carrier and enhancing its leadership in the aviation sector.
