Killed by Pajamas Family Issues Warning to Parents After Their Child Dies Due to Sleepwear

Khaberni - A Scottish child lost his life in a tragic home accident after the hood of his pajama wrapped around his neck while he was playing in his bedroom.

The incident happened to 19-month-old Lachlan Webster in the family's house in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, on the evening of September 23rd.

According to the newspaper "The Sun", the child was watching his sisters play outside the house through his room window before bedtime, where he climbed onto the windowsill to watch the play scene outdoors.

While trying to get down from the windowsill, his red pajama hood, adorned with Disney's "Cars" movie characters, got caught on the handle, leading to it wrapping around his neck.

Crucial moments that changed the family’s life
The child's mother, 33-year-old Stacey, was washing dishes in the kitchen when she noticed sudden silence in her son's room, she immediately went to check on him, only to find him unconscious, she then carried him quickly to the neighbors' house where they began performing CPR before the arrival of the ambulance.

One of the girls called her father Adam, 34 years old, who was helping a friend install a garden gate, he hurried back to find the ambulance in front of his house.

The child was taken to the hospital, where his death was later declared, while an autopsy showed that the cause of death was strangulation.

Campaign to prevent recurrence of the tragedy
The family is now requesting a ban on the design of hoods in sleepwear intended for young children, or at least a redesign to make them safe.

The family has also launched an online petition calling on manufacturers and retailers to remove these hoods from children's clothing to prevent similar tragedies.

For his part, the child’s father describes the incident as every parent's nightmare, noting that the pajama bought from the store "Matalan" had only been worn by the child three or four times.

The family is keen on warning parents about the dangers of clothing that contain hanging cords or hoods that could pose a deadly risk to children’s lives.

Ongoing official investigations
The Scottish police confirmed they received a report about finding the child unconscious, indicating that the death is considered unexplained but without apparent suspicious circumstances.

Investigations are currently underway into the incident, while official judicial investigations have been opened to determine the circumstances of the death, with Matalan management expressing their condolences to the family, describing the incident as extremely tragic.

The family continues their campaign to save the lives of other children by changing the designs of comfortable children's clothing, hoping that no other family will go through this unbearable pain.
