Khaberni - The Pentagon announced on Saturday the killing of two U.S. military personnel and a civilian American translator, in addition to injuring three others, due to a security incident that occurred in Syria.
A security source reported to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Saturday that Syrian security forces and U.S. forces came under fire near the city of Palmyra while conducting a joint field tour. The source explained that the incident resulted in the injury of two members of the Syrian security forces and several members of the U.S. forces, and the shooter was killed, with no further information regarding the motives or circumstances of the incident.
The source mentioned that traffic on the international road from Deir ez-Zor to Damascus was temporarily halted following the incident, coinciding with intense aerial activity in the region's skies, noting that American helicopters intervened to evacuate the injured to Al-Tanf base after the shooting.
Damascus officially joined the international coalition against the organization known as "ISIS" during the visit of interim Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara to Washington last month.
