Khaberni - The American President Donald Trump congratulated the Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi on Thursday, and considered his appointment to form the government as reflecting the "beginning of a new chapter" between the two countries.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump, who opposed the former Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's nomination for the position, said "We wish him success in his work on forming a new government, capable of providing Iraq with a brighter future."
He continued, "It is the beginning of a great new chapter between our two countries. A chapter entitled prosperity, stability, and unprecedented success."
Zaidi had earlier announced that Trump invited him over a phone call to visit Washington after forming the new government.
On Monday, the Iraqi President, Nizar Amidi, tasked Ali Al-Zaidi, the nominee of the Coordination Framework, with forming the Iraqi government, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Zaidi confirmed during the mandate ceremony, his intention to work with all political forces to form a government that responds to the demands of the Iraqis in establishing security, stability, and achieving comprehensive development.
