Khaberni - Today, Monday, the European Union countries ratified a package of strict measures in the immigration policy, paving the way to send migrants to special centers outside the bloc's borders.
According to (Deutsche Welle), this move received widespread support among the Union nations, driven by right-wing parties, but it still needs the approval of the European Parliament to take effect.
During their meeting in Brussels, the EU Interior Ministers approved three key texts presented by the European Commission to regulate the arrival of migrants and how they are returned.
These texts enable the creation of "return centers" in countries outside the Union where migrants whose asylum applications were denied are sent, and the tightening of penalties for those who refuse to leave European territories, through extending detention periods, in addition to the possibility of transferring migrants to countries they do not originate from but are classified by Europe as "safe".
The European Commissioner, Magnus Bruner, who stands behind toughening these measures, justified the new steps by saying that "the Union must demonstrate to its citizens that it is capable of controlling the situation in the file of irregular migration", considering that making progress in this file is essential to maintain public confidence.
These directions sparked anger among left-wing parties and organizations defending the rights of migrants, who see that the new measures threaten human rights and expand the circle of legal vulnerability.
