A long journey in vain Trumps statements about IranianAmerican negotiations

Khaberni - After Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi concluded a visit to Islamabad, at a time when American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to arrive there by the end of this week, in the midst of efforts to hold a new round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington, President Donald Trump announced today, Saturday, the cancellation of the American delegation's trip to Pakistan.

Trump said, "I told Witkoff and Kushner not to travel for 18 hours just to sit and talk in vain," according to Fox News.

The White House Master also clarified that Iran's stance prompted him to cancel Witkoff and Kushner's visit to Pakistan.

The decision does not mean resuming the war
But he explained that this decision does not mean resuming the war afterward.

He added: "The Iranians can contact us whenever they want," indicating that talks with Tehran can be completed with the same efficiency over the phone.

Also, Trump wrote a post on the "Truth Social" platform, saying that he had canceled the trip of his country's delegation to Islamabad to meet Iranian officials, noting that the decision was due to wasting time traveling and work pressure.

He also added that there are "major internal conflicts and a state of severe confusion within the Iranian leadership," stressing that Washington "holds all the winning cards" against Iran.

Also, Trump indicated that if Tehran wishes to conduct talks with the United States, "all they need to do is contact us."

Trump's statements come while it was expected that the American delegation headed by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would arrive in Islamabad tonight to hold talks with the Pakistani officials.

However, informed sources confirmed that the two men had not yet left Washington, according to Axios. They also indicated that it was not expected for Witkoff and Kushner to meet Araghchi today.

Araghchi arrives in Pakistan with no intention to talk to the Americans

Despite the fact that the White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt stated yesterday that the American delegation would have direct talks with the Iranian side in Pakistan.

Since the conclusion of the first round of direct negotiations held in Islamabad two weeks ago between the two sides, Iranian and American, without reaching an agreement, tensions have escalated between the two countries.

The US imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports on April 13, while Iranian threats kept the movement in the Strait of Hormuz nearly stopped.

Iran also adhered to its demands presented to Pakistan, including lifting the American naval blockade of Iranian ports, stopping American threats, continuing the war, as well as retracting the exaggerated demands (including completely abandoning uranium enrichment).

Islamabad was in an almost complete lockdown ahead of the expected talks, as Pakistan tries to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table since President American Donald Trump announced this week an indefinite extension of the ceasefire, in response to Islamabad’s request for more diplomatic efforts.
