Khaberni - The Palestinian Presidency warned of the dangers that Palestinian prisoners face in Israeli occupation jails, including serious and brutal violations that affect their human dignity and flagrantly violate all international laws and conventions, particularly the four Geneva Conventions.
The Presidency specifically condemned the ongoing attacks and serious retaliatory measures faced by the imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti, a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, holding the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for his safety and the safety of all prisoners in occupation jails.
The Presidency affirmed that the continuation of these violations against the prisoners constitutes a complete war crime, reflecting an Israeli policy systematically aimed at tormenting Palestinian prisoners in an attempt to break their will and punish them collectively.
The Presidency called upon the international community, international human rights institutions, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to act immediately and urgently to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and to pressure the occupying government to immediately stop these violations, ensure international protection for the prisoners, enable them to access their rights guaranteed by international laws, and reiterated its steadfast commitment to working towards the release of all prisoners, especially leader Marwan Barghouti.
