Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply emphasized the importance of adhering to the provisions of offers and discounts on goods announced by commercial establishments.
The ministry invited reporting complaints related to offers and discounts through approved channels, by calling the complaints numbers: 065629045, and WhatsApp 0797527832 / 0797527819, or through the ministry's digital platforms.
In a statement today, Thursday, the ministry added that Article (12) of the Industry and Trade Law specifies prohibited actions regarding offers and discounts. According to this article, it is prohibited for anyone to advertise a shop liquidation by selling its contents at liquidation prices in preparation for changing its purposes or closing it without taking the necessary legal measures, and also advertising fictitious discounts in goods prices where the prices are neither reduced before nor after the discounts.
It is also prohibited to advertise price reductions without specifying their duration or exceeding the specified duration in the advertisement, and also to advertise in the field of promoting goods, contracts, or services about free prizes that are due under certain conditions and violating these conditions or reneging on awarding the prizes or limiting the award to fewer than the announced number or fraud in awarding them.
The ministry clarified that according to the provisions of Article (14) of the Industry and Trade Law, anyone who undertakes any of the prohibited actions is punished with a fine of no less than 500 dinars and not more than 3,000 dinars.
The ministry affirmed that it intensifies its regulatory campaigns before and during "Black Friday" to ensure the validity of offers and discounts.
