Increase in Jordans Exports to European Union Countries

Khaberni  -  Foreign trade data during the first two months of the current year showed relative stability in the value of exports to the free trade area countries and a notable increase to the European Union countries.

According to data from the Department of Statistics, national exports to European Union countries increased significantly, by 72.3% to reach 112 million dinars during the first two months of the current year, compared with 65 million dinars for the same period last year, driven by a significant rise in exports to the Netherlands, which jumped by 314.3% to reach 29 million dinars. The data also showed relative stability in the value of exports to free trade area countries, amounting to about 533 million dinar, compared with 536 million dinar for the same period last year. According to the data, exports were affected by changes in global demand and varying rates of economic recovery between markets, with exports to Syria increasing by 41.7% to reach 51 million dinar, and exports to Saudi Arabia decreasing by 6.9% to reach 135 million dinar, and to Iraq by 17.7% recording 116 million dinar.

On the other hand, the data showed significant growth in national exports to non-Arab Asian countries, which increased by 8.8% to reach 260 million dinars, compared with 239 million dinars for the same period last year, and exports to China grew by 2.4% to reach 43 million dinars.

National exports to other economic blocs increased by 25.8% to reach 117 million dinars, compared with 93 million dinars for the same period last year, while exports to Switzerland grew by 151.7% to reach 73 million dinars.

Conversely, national exports to the North American Free Trade Agreement countries decreased by 13.2% to reach 328 million dinars, compared with 378 million dinars during the corresponding period of the previous year, while exports to the United States in particular decreased by 14% registering 314 million dinars.
