Khaberni - The Tunisian artist Oumaima Taleb has sparked a wide wave of controversy on social media recently, after she appeared at a musical event in a look many considered "strange".

Oumaima appeared on stage wearing a long, wide black dress, which social media users compared to the traditional Japanese "kimono," while others thought it resembled a "sleeping gown," which triggered a flood of mocking comments.

The audience comments varied between mocking and criticizing; some followers stated that the look "is not suitable for a wedding or an official event," while others wrote: "Even if you meant kimono, a kimono is not worn at a wedding" and some tweeters considered the gown closer to a men's or women's nightgown.

In an attempt to respond to the criticisms, Oumaima posted a video of her look on her accounts, commenting mockingly: "I left the house in a hurry.. sorry, my bad by Balensiaga", explaining that the gown is from the international fashion house Balensiaga, indicating that it is a luxury design and not a nightgown as some described.

Oumaima Taleb is preparing for a special artistic concert in Qatar before the end of the year, where the organizing body announced through the "X" platform about a musical evening to be held in Katara – the Southern Square on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Despite being busy with her artistic work, Oumaima’s latest look remains a broad topic of discussion among the public, between those who see it as personal freedom and a difference in taste, and those who believe that an artist should consider the nature of the place and the event before choosing their attire.
