Khaberni - German Foreign Minister Johann David Fadivol confirmed on Tuesday that the improvement in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is due to the massive efforts made by Jordan to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in order to improve the lives of the people in the area.
Fadivol said during a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi in Berlin that he has requested the Israeli Foreign Minister to urgently reopen the Allenby crossing for the transfer of goods; to facilitate the arrival of relief supplies to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
He added that it is essential to implement President Donald Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, considering the Security Council's vote in favor of a US resolution supporting Trump’s peace plan in Gaza, which includes deploying an international force and a pathway to a Palestinian state, as an important step towards stabilizing Gaza.
Fadivol emphasized the importance of implementing this decision on the ground.
Regarding the current situation, Fadivol said: "Today, a new phase of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel has come into effect, and since the agreement came into effect in October, we have witnessed a notable improvement in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip."
Despite the improvement, the German Foreign Minister pointed out that the United Nations has decided to send 4200 humanitarian trucks to Gaza weekly, but there is still a severe shortage of tents and medical equipment. Fadivol stressed the necessity for the NGOs that have been working in Gaza for a long time to be able to resume their work there, calling on Israel to resolve the issue of registering these organizations to ensure their continued operation.
On the Ukrainian issue, Fadivol confirmed that international efforts to end the Russian war on Ukraine continue intensively, praising the recent engagement of the US government in constructive dialogue in Geneva between Germany, France, Britain, Ukraine, and the United States.
He added: "I met yesterday with my colleagues to discuss the situation in Ukraine, and today there are dialogues at the level of heads of state and government, and tomorrow an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers is to be held. We are intensively working with Ukraine with the aim of achieving lasting peace in the region."
The German Foreign Minister pointed out that ending the war in Ukraine requires all possible efforts, but it is necessary to make the right decisions that ensure a just, lasting, and decisive peace, avoiding any decisions that might encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin to make the next attack or affect the sovereignty of the European Union or NATO.
Fadivol said: "Ukraine emphasized significant developments in the peace plan, and peace should emerge from this plan. It is important to remember that Putin started the war and he is responsible for ending it. If he wants peace, he must show a real willingness to negotiate."
He added: "We are committed to continuing to work with our international partners to ensure the end of this war and achieve lasting peace in Europe."
