Khaberni - The cabinet decided in its session held today, Sunday, chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, to extend the work on the decision to fix bread prices until December 31, 2026, and to provide financial support to bakeries,
Note that the expected support value for wheat (bread) for the year 2026 is about 109 million dinars, out of 171 million dinars allocated for the support of wheat and barley crops. The decision aims to maintain bread prices, prevent their prices from being affected by the rise in wheat prices and global production costs, in addition to maintaining the support provided to 1100 stone bakeries.
The decision comes as part of the government's approach to continue supporting strategic goods, and in the context of enhancing the social safety net with its various items that were allocated in the budget project for the year 2026. The cost of one ton of wheat amounts to 252 dinars,
and is sold to mills for 139 dinars, where the government bears the subsidy difference of 113 dinars per ton; due to fixing bread prices in addition to the monthly support provided to stone bakeries to maintain their production costs.
