Urgent Statement Issued by Volunteer Organizations in Fuhais Regarding Lafarge Land Sale

Khaberni - The volunteer organizations in Fuhais issued the following statement:
They have been closely monitoring the recent developments regarding the land issue in Fuhais where the cement factory is located, particularly the announcement by Lafarge company "to tender the sale of company-owned lands in Fuhais".
The organizations express their surprise at the content and timing of this announcement, which came after the company's meeting with the Fuhais Municipality Committee and the Advisory Committee, reaffirming our doubts in the company's plans.

Please allow us to confirm the following:

Firstly: The volunteer organizations in Fuhais believe that what Lafarge has done represents a new attempt to impose a fait accompli and to unilaterally dispose of the lands, bypassing the rights of the city of Fuhais and the company's legal, environmental, and ethical obligations.
The organizations warn against continuing unilateral steps in a file of this sensitivity, due to the potential complications and implications that the company will fully bear.

Secondly: The volunteer organizations demand that Lafarge immediately halt the sales process without delay, and consider the tender announcement null and void until all technical, legal, and geological requirements related to the lands on which the factory is located are fulfilled.
The organizations affirm that any continuation of the sales process before meeting these requirements represents an unacceptable and rejected overreach.

Thirdly: The volunteer organizations in Fuhais renew their full support for the recommendations of the Advisory Committee for the Fuhais land issue, and call upon the esteemed committee to declare a clear and explicit stance on the recent sales announcement, in alignment with its recommendations that the institutions of Fuhais have unanimously adopted, consistent with the city's interests and its legitimate right to manage this file with transparency and responsibility.

Fourthly: The volunteer organizations call upon the Fuhais Municipality Committee to adhere to the recommendations of the Advisory Committee when dealing with any sale or division requests for lands owned by the Jordan Cement Factories Company, ensuring that the land file is treated as a single integrated issue that must not be fragmented or considered piecewise, and also the recommendation to label any land registered in the company's name as "under study" regarding its suitability for construction, as these lands have been mined or are adjacent to mined lands, posing a current risk to public safety.
The organizations stress the necessity of avoiding any partial or unilateral actions, and ensuring that the land is dealt with within a comprehensive and clear plan that defines the future of the area and secures the rights and public interest of the city of Fuhais before making any decisions related to the sale or development.

Fifthly: The volunteer organizations in Fuhais urge the people of Fuhais to maintain unity of stance and full vigilance against any attempts to fragment the file or pass unilateral measures, and to affirm that all obligations imposed on Lafarge (as stated in the last three municipal council communications) are essential conditions that cannot be overlooked, including geological and topographical studies, environmental impact assessments, dismantling and relocating the factory, rehabilitating the lands, and collecting all legally established rights of Fuhais.
The volunteer organizations in Fuhais, while affirming their firm commitment and continuous work to protect the rights of our city and safeguard its future, emphasize that any attempt to bypass the requirements for a fair and comprehensive solution will be met with a unified stance from all activities in Fuhais, and more escalated steps, as the future of Fuhais is not an option, but a destiny for coming generations.
