Khaberni - The Arab Parliament welcomed the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a number of important resolutions in favor of the Palestinian cause by an overwhelming majority, foremost among which is the confirmation of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to ensure the continuation of its humanitarian services to millions of Palestinian refugees in various areas of operation.
The parliament, in a statement issued by its president Mohamed Al Yamahi on Friday, confirmed that this broad international support reflects the international community's adherence to international legitimacy and its rejection of the illegal acts practiced by the Israeli occupation, including annexation, colonization, forced displacement, and ethnic cleansing, expressing gratitude to the countries that voted in favor of these resolutions and supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Al Yamahi emphasized that the adoption of these resolutions constitutes an important step towards enhancing international efforts to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip and protect civilians, paving the way for a more effective international move to end the occupation, and achieve just and lasting peace in accordance with United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He also affirmed the continued efforts of the Arab Parliament in its parliamentary and diplomatic movements regionally and internationally to garner more support for the Palestinian cause and defend the rights of the Palestinian people in all international forums until they achieve their freedom and establish their fully sovereign independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
