Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Interior issued an official statement clarifying the truth about the killing of an engineer in Alexandria Governorate, and the claims that he was a nuclear chemistry engineer.
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated, as part of security follow-up regarding the spread of news on social media about the killing of an engineer in Alexandria and the escape of the perpetrator, and some accounts claiming the victim was a "nuclear chemistry engineer," it turned out that these claims are not true.
The ministry explained in a statement on Thursday, that on November 12th, the Karmouz police department received a report that a person had fired gunshots at another, resulting in his death.
Upon the arrival of security forces, it was discovered that a fight had erupted between the deceased, who had a bachelor’s degree in engineering and worked as a sales representative at a car dealership, and his friend, who shot him and fled in his car.
The security forces were able to identify and arrest the suspect, who also holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and lives within the jurisdiction of Al-Dekheila police station, and it was found that he suffers from psychological disorders and had previously been admitted to a psychiatric clinic.
The weapon used in the crime was also seized.
The statement added that the suspect confessed to committing the act out of revenge against the victim, following previous disputes between them, after the latter complained about him to his father following an assault on his wife involving insults and defamation through social media, despite their reconciliation in November 2024.
The ministry confirmed that the necessary legal measures regarding the incident have been taken.
