Khaberni - It seems that the Algerian Football Federation is ready to take another daring step within its strategy focused on young dual-national talents.
According to a report by "Phoenix Football," after convincing Luca Zidane to join the Algerian national team, the federation now targets Ethan Mbappé, the younger brother of Kylian Mbappé.
Ethan is 18 years old and currently plays for the French club Lille, having Algerian roots through his mother, Faiza Al-Amari.
Ethan Mbappé joined Lille in the summer of 2024 with a contract for 3 seasons, after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended.
The name of the Lille midfielder has been highlighting the international scene since the age of 18, after showing great talent in forming the French youth national team.
Kylian's brother holds three nationalities: French, Algerian from his mother Faiza Al-Amari, and Cameroonian from his father Wilfried Mbappé, and Algeria sees him as a target to strengthen its midfield ahead of the upcoming major competitions.
This plan, as explained by "Phoenix Football," is part of a long-term policy: to bolster the national team before the 2025 African Nations Cup and the 2026 World Cup by incorporating young players eligible to play for Algeria before they choose to represent other national teams.
The site reported that initial contacts have already been made with Faiza Al-Amari, and the Algerian Football Federation is officially waiting for the end of the 2025 African Nations Cup before making any official move.
Ethan started his football career at the Paris Saint-Germain youth team in the 2017/2018 season, and was promoted to the first team in 2023.
