To the highest level Local Administration directs readiness for the depression

Khaberni - The Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid Al-Masri, directed today, Wednesday, the chairmen of municipal committees, directors of municipal affairs directorates, and chairmen of joint services councils, to elevate the state of readiness and preparedness to the highest level, in light of forecasts by the Meteorology Department of the Kingdom's exposure to atmospheric instability and a weather depression starting from Thursday until Saturday.

Al-Masri said that the unstable conditions will be accompanied by heavy rainfall, which may lead to the formation of flash floods, rising water levels, floods, and landslides in a number of areas, indicating that the condition will cover various regions of the Kingdom, and that the duration of the rainfall will be short but intense and repeated during the weather condition's effect.

He called on the directors of municipal affairs and joint services councils for direct coordination with the chairmen of municipal committees to inspect the valleys, stream channels, main, box, pipe, and subsidiary culverts, in addition to stormwater drains, to ensure their readiness and their ability to absorb the expected water volumes.

Al-Masri emphasized the necessity of prior coordination with administrative rulers and other service institutions operating within municipal areas, to ensure the integration of efforts in dealing with any emergencies arising from the weather conditions.

He also asked to warn the citizens residing or present near valleys and flood channels, and to work on moving them away from these areas in coordination with the administrative rulers, stressing the importance of taking preventive measures, given the expected continuation of the instability for three consecutive days.

Furthermore, Al-Masri directed the chairmen of joint services councils to prepare all machinery and equipment to be ready for immediate intervention when needed, whether at the request of the municipalities or if field conditions require it, especially in deepening valleys and cleaning culverts, affirming the cooperation of all emergency teams and workers with the municipalities in the field.
