Who is Hatem Azzam who Israel appointed as Deputy Director of the Prison Authority

Khaberni - The Israeli Occupation Prisons Service announced the appointment of Gondar Hatem Azzam as the Deputy Commissioner of the Prisons Authority, following the endorsement of the extremist Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, based on the recommendation of the General Commissioner, Kobi Yaacobi for this appointment.

Azzam is one of the most prominent officials in the Prisons Authority, having held a series of leadership and administrative positions throughout his career, including the presidencies of security and criminal prisons. In his most recent position, he headed the Technology and Logistics department and managed to bring a qualitative shift in these areas within the agency.

According to the official statement reviewed by Khaberni, Azzam in his new role will be responsible for building organizational strength for the service, leading deputy commissioner units, as well as overseeing the Prison Service's readiness to handle threats related to security prisoners, and ensuring what the institution describes as "discipline governance" within prison facilities, especially considering the security challenges anticipated in the post-war stage.
