Khaberni - An in-depth study concluded that current evidence does not show a clear link between the intake of paracetamol during pregnancy and autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder "ADHD" in children.
Researchers combed through all the studies related to this issue and concluded that they were of low quality, with "low to very low" confidence in any results that suggest a link, according to the British agency "PA Media".
US President Donald Trump had said in September that there was a "rocketing increase" in cases of autism and that Tylenol, which is called paracetamol in the United Kingdom, was a possible cause.
Now, in a new study published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), experts, including researchers from the Universities of Liverpool and Birmingham, concluded that women should continue to be advised to take paracetamol when needed for pain and fever during pregnancy, stating that there is a "lack of strong evidence linking the use of paracetamol in pregnancy with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children".
