Khaberni - At the beginning of Eid days, food, sweets, and rich dishes abound, which may lead to a feeling of heaviness or a sudden increase in sugar and fats.
To avoid this danger, Dr. Munir Abu Al-Majd, a nutrition consultant at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, sets up a smart dietary plan for the first 24 hours of Eid that helps enjoy meals without overburdening the body, and maintains energy and mood levels.
First: Morning of Eid.. Start actively
- Start the day with a balanced breakfast that includes healthy protein such as eggs or yogurt, and complex carbohydrates such as oats or whole wheat bread.
- Eat seasonal fruit to provide the body with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
- Water is essential before any meal to maintain hydration and prevent overeating.
Second: Eid meal.. A balance between taste and benefit
- Do not deprive yourself of Eid cake or sweets, but make them part of a balanced meal, with fresh vegetables or a salad to increase fiber.
- Choose a small piece of cake instead of overindulging, and eat it slowly to enjoy the flavors and give your brain a chance to release happiness hormones like dopamine and endorphins.
- Integrating protein and vegetables with the dessert helps stabilize blood sugar levels and reduces rapid fluctuations in energy.
Third: After the meal.. Light movement
- Walking for 10–20 minutes after the meal enhances digestion and improves mood.
- Playing with children or moving around in family gatherings helps increase the secretion of endorphins, enhancing feelings of comfort and happiness.
Fourth: Light meal during the day
Eating fruit, nuts, or low-fat yogurt helps maintain energy levels between meals, and these snacks prevent overindulgence in sweets or heavy meals later.
Fifth: Evening.. Ending the day in a balanced way
A light dinner that includes low-fat protein and vegetables, with a reduction in heavy carbohydrates.
- Drinking a cup of herbal tea or warm water before bed helps digestion and prepares the body for a peaceful sleep.
In addition to the above, Dr. Abu Al-Majd advises a set of additional tips, including:
- Eat slowly and mindfully to enjoy the flavors and give the brain a chance to secrete happiness hormones.
- Avoid overindulging in carbonated drinks or heavy sweets during the early hours.
- Listen to the body: Whenever you feel full, stop, as this method helps maintain balance and energy throughout Eid.
