5 Tips for Safe and Healthy Beautification

Khaberni - At a time when cosmetics are seen as a symbol of beauty and confidence, a recent scientific study has unveiled a more dangerous aspect to this glittering world, after finding that lipstick samples, tested for the toxic metal cadmium, a heavy metal, pose a hidden threat to human health in the long run.

The study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, explained that cadmium - a naturally occurring element in soil and water - becomes dangerous when it enters the body through daily-used products such as cosmetics that come into direct contact with the mouth and skin.

◄ Hidden dangers that accumulate slowly

Researchers warn that repeated use of lipstick can lead to the accumulation of cadmium inside the body, especially among women who use it daily and reapply it several times throughout the day.

Over time, this accumulation may cause damage to the kidneys and liver and increase the risk of cancer and bone diseases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that cadmium is one of the most dangerous toxic metals, as it is not easily eliminated by the body, and inhaling or swallowing small amounts over time can lead to neurological disorders and a weakened immune system.

Cadmium is sometimes used indirectly in the metal dyes that give lipstick its shine and vivid colors, especially in red and pink shades.

Although some countries impose restrictions on the use of heavy metals in cosmetic products, weak monitoring or lack of compliance with international standards allows these substances to be present in the markets.

Toxicologist Dr. Elizabeth Carter tells the website Healthline, "The problem is not in using the product once, but in the daily repetition, which allows the accumulation of metals inside the body over time. Therefore, periodic inspections and ensuring transparency of ingredients should be emphasized."

◄ Tips for safe and healthy beautification

● Choose reputable brands that adhere to international quality standards and undergo precise laboratory tests.

● Read ingredients carefully and avoid products that contain metallic dyes or vague chemical names.

● Reduce frequent use and do not apply lipstick while eating or drinking to avoid swallowing particles.

● Prefer certified organic and natural products from trusted sources such as USDA Organic or ECOCERT.

● Store products in cool, dry places to avoid chemical reactions caused by heat and humidity.

◄ Conscious beauty.. the trend of the future

Beauty experts believe that the world is moving towards the concept of "conscious beauty," which combines elegance, safety, and environmental awareness. Today's consumers are not only looking for a product that enhances their beauty, but also one that is clean, safe, and environmentally friendly.

The World Health Organization estimates that women use between 10 and 15 beauty products daily, making transparency in the industry a fundamental requirement for public health protection.

True beauty does not come from the color of lipstick, but from the confidence that what you put on your skin is safe and healthy.
