The Syrian official stated in comments reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA that the current phase is witnessing a shift in the American stance towards direct dealings with the central Syrian government, supporting efforts to unify the country and rejecting any calls for partition.
He confirmed that work is ongoing to transfer partnerships and understandings that were temporary with provisional entities to Damascus, within the framework of joint political, military, and economic coordination.
He noted that in its new era, Syria is steadily marching towards consolidating stability and enhancing cooperation based on national sovereignty and mutual respect.
Earlier, Reuters had reported from informed sources saying that the United States is preparing to establish a military presence at an air base in Damascus, to assist in facilitating a security agreement mediated by Washington between Syria and Israel.
