Khaberni - Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar emphasized the importance of small and medium projects in employing youth in the governorates and districts of the kingdom.
The Minister's comments came during his inauguration on Thursday of an electric vehicle charging station established on land owned by the Hashemite District Cooperative Association in Zarqa Governorate, and the graduation of 16 girls who participated in a sewing, knitting, and dressmaking course organized by the Hashemite Association for Social Development.
Al-Bakkar mentioned, in the presence of Zarqa Governor Firas Abu Qaoud, President of the Hashemite District Association Khaled Al-Ziyoud, representatives from private sector companies, and several local dignitaries, that the cooperative associations contribute to providing training to the residents of their local areas in different governorates, enabling them to secure employment opportunities.
He pointed out that the Ministry has a successful experience in implementing the Royal Initiative aimed at establishing 34 production branches in the kingdom's rural and desert areas with the goal of localizing development and reducing youth migration to urban centers, noting that these branches currently employ around 10,000 workers, mostly women.
Al-Bakkar added that it is essential to rely on self-reliance in training and qualifying the nation's youth, both males and females, in skills and requirements of the labor market since the major challenge is unemployment, particularly among females, highlighting the important role of the Vocational Training Corporation in providing training institutes, centers, and programs to empower youth to meet labor market requirements.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Labor is working on marketing Jordanian competencies regionally and globally, including efforts to coordinate with Germany and Italy to provide job opportunities for Jordanian youth.
The Minister urged youth to take advantage of the financing options offered by the Development and Employment Fund, the Fund to Support Education and Vocational and Technical Training Activities, and the Skill Development Fund managed by the ministry to support small and medium projects.
General Director of the Cooperative Institution Mohammed Al-Shalabi stated that cooperative work contributes to establishing small and medium projects that provide job opportunities to improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries.
He added that one of the international cooperative work principles focuses on serving the community and projects to empower youth and women.
President of the Hashemite Cooperative Association Khaled Al-Ziyoud confirmed that cooperative work contributes to community development and support, and empowers youth to enter the labor market.
Al-Ziyoud reviewed the services provided by the association and the ongoing projects on its land, such as the electric vehicle charging station and other facilities like the sports field and the training workshop to empower youth with job market skills and other services.
He stressed the importance of supporting small and medium projects and providing financing windows for them due to their significance in employing youth and women and developing local communities.
