Prime Minister Participates in the Global Summit for Social Development in Doha

Khaberni - Representing King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan participated in the proceedings of the second Global Summit for Social Development, which commenced today, Tuesday, in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, inaugurated the summit, which enjoys wide international participation and includes more than 8000 representatives from the member states of the United Nations, at the level of heads of state and government, international organizations, the United Nations, and civil society.
Jordan's participation in this summit confirms the efforts it is making to achieve the goals of social development included in the national strategy for social protection, in addition to its efforts on a global scale in this context, the latest of which was organizing the third Global Summit on Disability in partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany last April, which culminated in the Amman-Berlin declaration on the global inclusion of the rights of persons with disabilities.
The second Global Summit for Social Development resulted in the adoption of the "Doha Declaration," which renews the global commitment to achieving social development and the Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, and commits to a political, economic, and ethical vision for social development, based on human dignity, human rights, equality, and peace.
The summit comes thirty years after the first Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between governments and international institutions to build more inclusive and sustainable societies.
The Jordanian delegation participating in the summit included the Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa and the Jordanian Ambassador to Doha, Zaid Al Lozi.
