Khaberni - A security source reported today, Sunday, that three siblings died by drowning while swimming in the Bismayah River within the Hartha district, north of Basra province in the far south of Iraq.
The source explained that the three siblings went down to the river to swim, before they were swept away by the water current, noting that they were transported to Al-Fayhaa Hospital as lifeless bodies before reaching it.
Drowning incidents are a recurring phenomenon in the southern provinces during the summer season, due to the rise in temperatures and the lack of supervision at unauthorized swimming locations.
