A Turkish village where women abstain from cooking during Ramadan for this reason

Khaberni - The women of Yaygeylar village, Turkey, are getting ready to conclude Ramadan without any of them preparing a breakfast meal at home, with reliance on male chefs to prepare a communal breakfast for all the village residents throughout the month.

The village follows the town "Arable" or "Arabi" in "Yozgat" province in central Turkey, and is characterized by having all its residents break their fast together in Ramadan every year, amidst a widespread occurrence of this type of Ramadan breakfast in the region.

About 500 people, all the residents of Yaygeylar village, men, women, and children, gather to have breakfast together in a tradition that enjoys support and popularity among everyone.

During the current Ramadan, the residents of "Yaygeylar" broke their fast inside a hall they built to accommodate the cold weather, as Ramadan occurs in winter, instead of the tent that used to gather them in previous years.

The daily breakfast meals are prepared in large pots by professional chefs chosen by the village residents, while funding depends on charitable donations.

Residents of the village, who live outside it in distant cities like Istanbul for work or study, contribute to the communal breakfast program, making them feel as though they are present with their families.

The breakfast concludes with serving tea, a well-established tradition in the region, and brings the village residents together for group discussions before returning to their homes.

This daily communal breakfast allows the village women to be free from the tasks of cooking and cleaning daily dishes, which women usually complain about during Ramadan.

The communal breakfast program for the village concludes on the morning of Eid al-Fitr, where breakfast is served in the morning this time instead of the evening.
